Truck full of pipe

A snapshot of the truck that is bring the pipe for the water project.  This load is carrying 4,260 meters, or about four kilometers of plastic PVC pipe.  It is about half of what will be needed by the project.  All of it will have to be buried  30 inches below the ground.  You will note that there are different sizes,  The farther away from the distribution tank, the smaller the diameter. This will help maintain an even pressure in the system

The ditch digging has begun

The La Pita water project is moving ahead.  I just talked to Cesar and, despite it being harvest time, the ditch digging has begun. About 700 meters so far, quite impressive….but still just a small piece of the total of seven kilometers that need to be dug.  The ditch has to be  30 inches deep in terrain that is very rocky.  Although every household is assigned 100 meters, they prefer to work in teams that pick up the pace.  Cesar expects that the pump will be installed in the next couple of weeks and by the end of the month the first house will be connected!
